Energy Day

Energy day

The ultimate sustainable team building experience from Learning To Lead.
A high energy participative fun experience but with a great deal of intellectual challenge and lots to take home for every participant and for the team as a whole.

Over 15,000 extraordinary diverse and wonderfully stimulating South Africans, and other nationalities, have attended our Leadership Programs. The focus in each of them, and indeed in everything we do, is inspired by Oscar Wilde, who said: “To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people just exist, that is all”. We are also inspired by Malidome Some from Burkina Faso who said: “When death finds you, may it find you alive”.

We create a profound and lasting acceptance of the fact that human energy is key to everything we do as individuals and in teams and organisations. When human energy is up then effectiveness rockets – but when it is down, outputs and achievements slump – quite often disastrously.

Unfortunately the larger majority of people – in churches, schools, universities, communities, local and central government and in corporations – are what are called “disengaged”. Someone who is disengaged has left their energy at home – or worse still – they bring their negative and toxic energy. The disengaged are “here” but are not “fully present”.

Teams which include a percentage of “disengaged” members don’t function as high energy teams should.

It is therefore little wonder that Ernst & Young’s recent research revealed that 66% of all strategic decisions are never implemented! Teams go away to expensive venues to develop exciting plans for the future and to align everyone in the process and the results are disappointing. Or teams have a team building session of bungi jumps and white water rafting to build team spirit – still with disappointing results.

The missing ingredient is an awareness and an understanding of the key role that positive sustainable human energy plays. There needs to be an acceptance of human energy as a hard issue by everyone in the team – and a commitment from each team member to bring their positive energy to work every day for everyone’s sake.

To achieve these essential outcomes for a team we have developed a one-day Program. It is a high energy participative fun experience but with a great deal of intellectual challenge and lots to take home for every participant and for the team as a whole. We can handle numbers from 12 to 60, or even more.

Included in the Energy Day is an energy measurement process which enables us to measure energy at three levels : personal, organisational and leadership energy. The final Report provides invaluable insight into current energy levels and future priorities and challenges within the team.
